this is so sad, when looking at this pics, it is really scary, may Buddha will help to survive every body's life. Dont give more pain to thier parents, as a mother i can feel it. since i also waiting for school van for in the morning. I dont know who is wrong regard to this incident, but parents are giving their children to the Van ppl thinking that they are in safe hand. But these ppl only running behind the money, they dont understand value of children.

Our prayers are with these innocent children....why cant the police be more strict with drivers who race on roads ..may it be bus drivers, van/car drivers, tri-shaw drivers....a few more drastic fines can put some order on our roads to prevent accidents like this. Why not rebuke the license for ever of those careless drivers...this will put enough panic that people will drive carefully henceforth. This is a cry to the traffic police to help safe our children!

i feel sooo sad about the children.. we have to do something about this drivers specially bus drivers i'm also driving i have drive in forging country's too but i never see bus driver like in this country.. what they all do is racing each other.. i don't no y they plying with Innocent peoples life... they have to give them a maximum sentence. at least other drivers can open they are eyes.. i pry for the children.. god bless everyone..

Drivers in Sri Lanka are highly undisciplined. They have no road sense, no sense of safety and only interested in beating the clock. They are also arrogant, once they get behind the wheel they think they are the kings. I have no sympathy for the drivers, bus or the van, but the poor kids and the parents who send their off springs in these wretched vans.

The children in the van say the van driver was racing with another van driver. Most of the children were asleep. The van is coming from Panadura.
The police say the van had worn tires ! now !
We cant blame anyone but ourselves.
Parents put children to faraway Colombo schools when there are enough good schools around their residence. And the parents cant take the children to school. So they send them alone or in school vans. Half of those children have left home around 5.30am to reach school at 7.30 am.
We dont check the status of the school van. We just want to find a van to take them to school. We first check whehter there is a lady in the van if we have a daughter. But later if the lady is missing even we dont know. Then we think we have done our duty.
Till the child comes home we dont know whether they actually went to school. Now in this incident, the parents had the drivers mobile. The driver too was injured. So, whom to contact.
All the children were late to school from Moratuwa and Panadura today (To colombo schools). So the teachers did not know who were injured till later.
It is not the government, we have to wake up ! We have to realize, whether the scholarship my son won to Ananda College is worth than sending him to Sri Sumangala College in my home town. We think of education first. But we dont think of our childs safety.
Today, all these children would have been safe, if the parents knew that this driver was not a safe driver. The vehicle had tires which were not safe ! and the children were sent to schools which are highly recommended in Panadura itself.

This is just another incident to prove that something is really lacking in the system. These brats should not be allowed to show their indecency in public.
