Now he missed two matches and both matches won by SL. The guy who played at mahelas place did well. So selectors thought this could not happpen,lets make mahela captain so that he cannot be dropped and then we can get people like thirimanna out of the team. Thilan samarweera is also ineligible because of the same reason.
well done selectors we can peacefully go to sleep early rather than watching till late where our guys chase targets.

So sorry Dilshan. Cricket Board is so ungrateful. I cant understand how Mahela could be made captain when he had not even played properly during the tour of South Africa.
I felt that Mahela to a great extent and Sanga to a lesser extent was not supporting Dilshan. You were generous to youngsters who will do wonderfully well. However much I used to like Mahela, I thought he would be dropped from the team not made captain. Sanga at least redeemed himself when Mahela was not there. One "dilscoop" is such a pleasure to watch. For that alone you should have been kept as Captain. Seetha

It seems like we have gone back to the situation just after world cup to rectify the mistakes made.
All these happened due to ego problem of our political leaders. Ideally when Sangakkara gave his resignation mentioning the need to groom young captain for next worl cup, authorities should have talked to him and make arrangements to keep him for another 2 years to groom Angelo Mathews for next world cup. Instead what they did was appointing Dilshan who is older than than Sangakkara and said to be close to political hierarchy.
Secondly we just appoitn a foriegner as a coach and not via on merit. Geoff Marsh was never in our shortlisted category but when he visited SL to watch his son playing, we just ask him "Can you be the coach of SL". Thats all. This happened due to political henchmen at SLC had screwed up all the money where SLC did not had money to pay for a professional coach.
So SL politicians destroyed our cricket and after 2 years they are forced to correct it as they cannot move forward otherwise.
This is what is happening in most palces we see new probels exists like in education and examinations.

Sri Lanka won the last two ODIs with South Africa few days ago. Mahela was dropped from these games because he was in bad form for last four tours (England,Australia, Pakistan and South Africa). Then, how he would be suitable for the captaincy again.

For me Upul Tharanga should be the captain. Mahela is one of the best captains there is no doubt about that.I think Upul tharanga should be the vice captain if mahela is the captain.Mathews is a good player. He did play well in last two years till the world cup. Every player has a bad period. All are idiots. Why the new management can't sack these 2 trouble makers with Sangakkara and Dilshan from the team. The 4 killed our cricket in recent past. When next IPL starts again these 4 will create trouble again.
Why the selectors overlook the youngsters? We have very nice group of youngsters with good cricket in their bodies.

Mathews starts being captain even before getting into the team he should show his talent with bat and ball not by gestures or by big words or influencing on other new players just like late super star Kapugedara...People like Tharanga always performed for Sri Lanka and always being foundation of wins but still he is not considered as a permanent opener or even not in Test team what else he has to prove making around 4000+ runs and 12 Centuries for country http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/50747.html...and being washed up by Tsunami and forced by other allegations I think he is tough enough for captaincy but Sadly he is over shadowed by advertising campaigns of players like Mathews..
